Unitech Club

UCTS Unitech Club is a student club that is dedicated for programming learning and drone piloting training to serve as a solution provider to the local community. The club is located at Drone Research and Application Centre (DRAC), located within UCTS campus at block 1, ground floor. The UNITECH Club is founded on 2021 and initiated by the School of Computing and Creative Media.

Mission

Our mission is to provide solutions in software and drone applications to nurture creative and entrepreneurial personal through collaborations with local community.

Weekly club activities involve drone (piloting and coding) trainings, drone applications for problem solving, and Internet-of-Things (IoT) design and problem solving.

Architecture Student Club

Architecture Student Club (ASC) is a platform for students to sharpen their creativity in arts and problem solving besides having the opportunity to bond with other students. ASC aims to encourage students to spend their leisure time in doing outdoor activities after spending countless hours working in a stressful classroom environment. In this club, students are taught the basic knowledge and skills of arts, design and architecture regardless of their education background.

UTS MIFA Club

UTS MIFA Club which comprises the fields of money, investment, finance and accounting was
previously named as UCTS Accountancy Society (UAS) and UCTS MIFA Club. The name of
MIFA Club was proposed by Tang Hie Ling (i.e. President of UCTS MIFA Club) and advised by
Miss Sim Siew Ling with the purpose of engaging more students from diverse background. The
establishment of this club could be seeing itself as a channel for students to extend their
knowledge and experiences beyond the lecture halls. UTS MIFA Club brings together aspiring
students closer to their dreamed life through providing a platform for them to broaden their
knowledge and skills in managing their money, investment, finance, accounting and other related
fields whilst interact with others through academic and co-curriculum activities.

To equip our members with technical and soft skills that are required for personal financial
management in the fields of money, investment, finance, and accounting, along with broaden
their networking with other students and industry players.

Marketer Buddies Club

This club is a great opportunity to the student’s community for encouraging industrial participation and to enhance potential knowledge, skills ability, behavior, culture, attitude, and leadership effectively and efficiency to spread out marketing experience and ideas as well.

Frisbee Club

Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact team sport played with a flying disc, having spirit is one of the most important quality as an ultimate player. UCTS Ultimate Frisbee Club named as Sturmer Ultimate Frisbee Club, established in 2018 by a group of students at UCTS, had successfully organized various events and competitions In Sibu, Sarawak.

Provides the new way to release student’s stress and increase the productivity to work and study. To train and grow more ultimate frisbee players in Sarawak.

Taekwondo Club

The training schedule is every Wednesday from 5:00pm until 6:30pm, behind LTC.

Badminton Club

Badminton is the second most popular sport in the world after soccer. It is a social sport and offers a great way to meet new people. UCTS Badminton Club is a club where student are able to play badminton and match with others, with minimum budget and under the guidance of some experience player.

Mission

Our mission is to recruit more students to join our club. For this semester, we target to find more than 50 members. Another important mission for us is to provide better management and environment for students who come to meeting, such as provide good quality shuttlecock, provide good quality badminton court, and be helpful to our club members.

Vision

We look forward to organize two badminton competition in this semester. First competition is open for UCTS student only. The intention of the first competition is to allow all the students to take part in some competitive activity, so that students will focus more on exercise and stay healthy. At the same time, students can interact and socialist through this competition as well. Next, for the second competition, it is open for outsiders. The second competition is to allow UCTS student to challenge outsiders in court. This may allow UCTS students to gain great experience, and help students to be more confident and comfortable for other big tournament such as MASISWA and SUKIPT.

VolleyBall Club

The platform for young athletes or new beginner to start venture the game of volleyball and learn the important values of team, spirit and sportsmanship, a “Culture of Excellence.” The club will encourage the development of skills and techniques necessary for players in hope to compete at a high level in the game of volleyball, focusing on the physical, mental, and emotional development of all players. Encourage the students to be more active in co-curriculum as more variety choice of sports they could participate. In term of participation, both boys and girls could join the club as it is not restricted to one gender only. Our motto is “Develop Better Players, Better Teams, Better People.”

Basketball Club

We are the UTS Basketball Club, and our team logo is a deer. Our team name is Reindeer. Our club welcomes everyone, whether males or females, to join us for activities and games. We have a lot of plans when the pandemic situation is somewhat stable. There will be several competitions in which everyone may compete!

Netball Club

Netball Club is a club that established on 2014 at UCTS. This club is only open for women. It was established so that the students can enjoy netball game through a player centred programme of activities for participation development. Then, it is to find the talented netball players to represent our university in any level of tournament. Netball Club also established to create a clear pathway which supports talented student and identifies those with the greatest potential to succeed.

We are committed in creating and developing the player skills, fitness, teamwork and experiences. To achieve our goal, we are committed in proving a proper training, tools and equipment and hosting high class event or activity by using our resources efficiently. Through the event, we will create good relationship between the students, staffs, and the public.

Table Tennis Club

This will be the platform for students to develop their potential and polish their skill in table tennis through professional coaching and training sessions.

Mission

Students are encouraged to take part in local tournaments and perhaps, prestige international tournaments in order to bring back the glory to UCTS. Students are targeted to take part in SUKMA and even higher.

Wushu Club

Wushu is a martial art and sport derived from traditional chinese martial arts. It was developed in china after 1949, in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional chinese martial arts. In contemporary times, wushu has become an international sport through the International Wushu Federation (IWUF). Instead of having real combat fighting, wushu is more emphasized in performance. It can also consider as a sport to help students build physical fitness and self-disciplines.

Improve the member discipline through the different training of the club. To improve the wushu skill among members. To promote wushu and to create a platform for UCTS students to unleash their hidden talent apart from giving a space for the students to spend their free time.

JCI Youth UTS is a platform for students to learn the effective way become a dynamic leader. JCI Youth UTS inspires youngsters to think creatively and emphasizes on self-development. Green Club is a club dedicated to sustainability at the university, in the community and throughout the world. We are devoted to explore, learn, share and question issues related to sustainability and the green revolution. Green Club aims to educate and encourage more students to identify the environmental issue, also, we inspire the student to go green, and live a healthier lifestyle. Through the club meeting, students will gain extra knowledge regarding the environment, and they will have more chances to participate in the activities regarding environmental protection. For example, plantation, recycling drive, and green inspiration DIY. The attitude of the student through the intention of going Green will affect the sustainability of the resources on earth, and the impacts of environmental issues nowadays. Modern Dance Club is a club that focuses on original street dance such as Hip Hop, Popping,Locking, and Breaking. Photography And Videography Club is a club that teaches members on basics and hands on of photo and video taking. Dayak Youth Club was founded in University College of Technology Sarawak in 2016. Sri Tari Kenyalang Club

Sri Tari Kenyalang was establish in 1 March 2018 to promote and enhance the knowledge of student in traditional dance. The purpose of this club is to preserve the culture and uniqueness of ethnics in Sarawak by promoting entertainment services in form of traditional dance for events within and off- campus so that we can promote the culture to the society.

Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam (PERMAI) Club was established in February 2015. PERMAI is a religious club for Muslim Students in the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS). The objective of this club is to take care of the students’ welfares either in academic or religious purposes.

There is a lotus flower in the centre of the logo which symbolizes spiritual enlightenment and rebirth. Besides that, the open hands represent the teachings of Buddha and the vast knowledge of the world. In addition to that, pink color represents inner peace, harmony, and universal love of oneself and of others. Meanwhile, the green color expresses the color of life, nature, renewal, and energy. Last but not least, the circle of the logo brings the idea of cycles or eternity to show unity and completeness.
